Master Instructor Seth Allen

Master Instructor Seth Allen is owner and operator of Moo Gong Do Vermont holding a 4th Degree Black Belt, the Instructor Ranking of Gyo Jang Nim(Master Instructor)and is a Level II Examiner.  He runs the main Vermont franchise out of Essex and oversees the Shelburne and Middlebury Satellite locations.  He started training in Moo Gong Do in 1989 at the University of Vermont.  You will find Master Allen teaching every night in Essex and Tuesdays and Saturdays in Shelburne.  He also teaches and oversees the Weapons program and the Instructor Certification Program (ICP Level I). He is a native Vermonter hailing from Rutland, attending high school at Kimball Union Academy in Meriden, NH and graduating from University of Vermont in 1990.  Having been in the Health and Fitness business for many years, he still actively teaches Spinning, is an AFAA certified personal trainer and is a PowerHouse certified Pilates instructor.

Master Instructor Matthew Nerbak

Master Instructor Matthew Nerbak is the school director of the South Burlington franchise holding a 4th Degree Black Belt, the Instructor Ranking of Gyo Jang Nim(Master Instructor) and is also a Level II Examiner.  He also runs the University of Vermont Moo Gong Do physical education program as well as numerous after school programs in the Burlington area.

He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey and grew up in a small town in northwest NJ called Hackettstown. Growing up he loved music and sports and decided to go off to music school after High School, (Berklee School of Music, Boston Mass.)  He moved to Vermont in 1989 with his family where he discovered Moo Gong Do and started training September 10th, 1990, with Grand Master Dae Young Kim.  He entered the Instructor Certification program in 1991.  He has been the Burlington School Director since 1994. He has been teaching Moo Gong Do for the Physical Education department at the University of Vermont for 13 years. Master Nerbak says “Moo Gong Do is for everyone, and that it’s impact on a person and our community is measured by the actions and character of each student. I enjoy helping to create the healthy and supportive environment in the school and being a part of each student’s learning process.” He still plays music regularly in and out of the area with various different bands. He loves to go camping, fishing and looks forward to seeing and training with all of you! You can find Master Nerbak on the Dojang (Training Hall) floor in South Burlington on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Middlebury Instructors:

Scott Smith is the school director of the Middlebury Dojang and holds the rank of 1st Dan and the instructor rank of Jo Gyo Nim(Assistant Instructor).  He started his training in 1993 and was the founding instructor of the Middlebury satellite location. Jo Gyo Nim Scott Smith grew up in Weybridge, Vermont and graduated from Middlebury Union High School in 1984.  He attended Plymouth State College.  He has been working for Bread Loaf Corp. since 1993 and was promoted to Superintendent in 2006.

Jo Gyo Nim Smith is assisted by Jo Gyo Nim Nathan Burt(2nd Degree Black Belt) and ICP student Ms. Judy Kowalczyk(1st Degree Black Belt).

Shelburne Instructors:

Master Allen is the founding instructor of the Shelburne satellite location and he is assisted by Jo Gyo Nim Susan Duchaine  who is the school Assistant Director.  JGN Duchaine is the first certified instructor to come out of the Shelburne Dojang and you can find here there on Saturdays.
